The Premise
Coupon Quest, a revolutionary coupon marketing tool doubling as a mobile game app, strategically targets users searching for "coupon" in app stores. The aim is to provide an immersive and rewarding way for mobile customers to discover local deals, shifting from intrusive ads to a captivating gaming experience.

Business Goals: 
As the co-founder and creative director of Coupon Quest Inc., my partner and I collaborated to create a marketing tool and habit-forming mobile game. Our objectives were clear: grow the user base and revenue through engaged frequent users, build an appealing brand, and offer a personalized, rewarding user experience to foster a community with a shared passion for gaming and local deals.

Design Process:
Agile Product Development combined with Design Thinking methodology 

Qualitative User Research:
Thorough user research involved surveys with qualitative questions on our target demographic. We created personas, utilized heat mapping and recording for behavioural analysis, consulted with development team experts, and mined data to identify user pain points.

•Customer Segments/Persona:
1. Deal enthusiasts looking for relevant and personalized offerings to avoid information overload.
2. Users seeking entertainment through finding deals, playing games, and collecting points.
3. Age from 25-45, based in Canada

•User Objective: 
Discover local deals through a fun and personalized experience, alleviate boredom, and prevent missing out on local deals and free gifts. Facilitate sharing of great deals within the user's social circle.

•Identified Pain Points:
1.  Our target users are already searching for deals, but they are either overwhelmed or underwhelmed by online deals/coupons that are not personalized and not relevant to their interests and locations.
2.  Traditional Coupon/Deals sites are not rewarding enough to retain interest level thus they tend to have low user engagement.

The Solutions:
 1.  An app identify user's location, pull all local deals that are relevant to users' interests and discounts from local stores near the user, and hides them in a fun and rewarding game platform for user to discover and collect.  - Implemented Yipit.com's API, Coupon Quest get a small percentage when user purchase a deal.  
 
2. Every deal/coupon user collect will earn them points inside the game. When user reach a milestone in points, we’ll reward them with a real prize that you can redeem, like a free coffee or a snack. - Partnered with Kiip to give free gifts to entice users, increase user engagement.
3. Extremely easy and fun to navigate the game, habit forming UX/UI experience.
4. Increase user retention and prolong user engagement by adding relevant local business ads in the game, this will also increase revenue for Coupon Quest.

Agile Product Development:
We crafted user flows, produced wireframes, prototypes, and subjected them to extensive user testing. Once validated, from there we built our marketing tool that double as a habit forming mobile game.

The Impact:
•User Base Growth:
The unique combination of gaming and deal-finding resonated with our target demographic, leading to a rapid increase in app downloads and active users after the launch.

•Enhanced User Engagement:
The reward system and engaging gameplay resulted in higher user retention rates and prolonged engagement, with users spending more time on the app.

•Revenue Uplift:
The integration of local business ads and partnerships with companies like Yipit.com and Kiip increased revenue streams.

•Community Building:
The app fostered a community of deal enthusiasts and gamers, who actively shared deals and experiences, further amplifying brand reach and loyalty.

By merging the realms of mobile gaming and coupon marketing, Coupon Quest Inc. has achieved its business goals and also created a new trend in user engagement and innovative marketing strategies.
